Sûre comes from the french, feminine for safe and is a woman-founded, woman-owned company based in Los Angeles.
In these times of increasing stress and rising authoritarianism, we have made it our mission to put our skin in the game. By productizing our values, we've made it simple for you to help drive money to the boots-on-the-ground organizations who are leading the way forward.
At Sûre, we believe self-care is not only necessary but an act of radical joy! And yes, it is possible to carve out moments of self-care without abandoning your activism.
Within our capitalistic economic and political system, it feels more and more like the only power we wield is where we put our money. That's why we feel it is important to spend where your values live.
After all, we firmly believe in individual choice and agency.
Our promise
At Sûre, we are not interested in the occasional charitable donation sales campaign based on cultural trends. It is our sole focus and promise to promote self-care through safe, natural, skin-care products and accessories while taking direct action to fund safety for women, children, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC communities, 365 days a year.
Each year, we will donate proceeds to our 6 flagship organizations.
The charity is the point.
What inspired us?
The truth? COVID. During the first year of the pandemic, we discovered the power of essential oils. They were one thing we could control, a way to set the tone for the day by filling our space with luxurious scents from a diffuser. An instant change of scenery. An escape.
From there, we became passionate about the various ways essential oils can be used for overall wellness.
As a parent with an autoimmune disease, my skin is always getting out of balance and often stress can cause dermatitis flare-ups. Since so many things can set my skin off-balance, finding products with simple, clean, and organic ingredients can be challenging. That's why we were inspired to make our own.
We honestly love using our products! Not only are they effective, but the scents are relaxing and we can use them with every confidence they are safe.
Sustainability
At Sûre, we are driven by our values. Among the many justice-related causes we support, climate justice is an absolute priority that threatens us all.
Let's face it, the main source of pollution comes from large companies. That is why we try to source many of our materials from small businesses in the United States.
We love the way our products look and feel in a glass jar. We spent cycles debating whether we should use glass jars and encourage customers like you to upcycle them. We considered a return and recycle program. But that would mean a cost to you and lot more work for us to clean and sanitize or recycle.
The truth is, the cost of recycling glass is even more than recycling plastic. So we decided it was worth it to launch our products with cardboard jars from the beginning.
We use recyclable, kraft cardboard jars, tubes, paper and tissue, which are made in the U.S.A. and recyclable wooden spoons for our packaging. We use recyclable, custom-fit kraft cardboard shipping boxes with recycled cardboard filler to reduce waste.
We will soon offer larger volume refills in recyclable kraft pouches and encourage you to upcycle your original jars and spoons and reduce the frequency of shipments. We will offer this to you at a discount.
And for every purchase we offset the carbon footprint of your order through EcoCart which calculates the carbon footprint of your order and offsets it directly to the Garcia River Forest Project in Mendocino, CA.
